The Agave Haus is growing...
What started as a simple mentorship program is now becoming something much more meaningful. One of the reasons why I started The Agave Haus was because I saw how hard it was to find spaces where Asian women in tech could talk openly and feel fully understood. I was having a hard time finding that space. Where’s the ERG (Employee Resource Group) / BRG (Business Resource Group) for remote workers!? And where specifically can I find people who can relate to my experiences as an Asian woman? I’ve heard about DevColor for black engineers, Lenny’s Community for Product Managers, and Sapienne for women building in AI. These groups are incredible but I still felt like there was a niche that was missing.
The Agave Haus began as a pilot mentorship program, just an idea to match a few mentees with mentors who shared similar backgrounds. But when I received more than 50 applications, I realized there’s demand for this.
From those applications, I formed 16 mentor-mentee pairs in Cohort 1. I took the feedback after the program wrapped up and improved it for Cohort 2, which had 12 mentor-mentee pairs and 2 peer mentor pairs. That’s 64 incredible women showing up for each other, asking hard questions, sharing honestly, and committing to each other’s growth. The experience made it clear: people weren’t just looking for guidance, they were craving connection. They wanted a space to talk about everything from job interviews and promotions to burnout, cultural expectations, and being the only woman of color in the room.
That’s why The Agave Haus is growing into more than mentorship. I’m building an online community for Asian women in tech across roles, levels, and time zones. Whether you're landing your first job, eyeing a leadership role, or just looking for a space where you don’t have to explain your background, you're welcome here. We want members to feel seen and supported, not just professionally, but as whole people.
As a young woman in tech myself, I know how isolating it can be. That’s why I’m so passionate about making this space real. The Agave Haus is about reminding each other that we don’t have to do this alone and together, we’re building something that feels like home.
